About Our Site

OnSnow was formed to offer a unique reference point on skiing, snowboarding, sledging and more snow fun.

It’s easy to have fun on snow, whether it’s skiing, snowboarding or sledding, but it can be even more fun if you improve your skills. OnSnow has an avalanche of information on how to do just about anything in the snow.

Skiers can learn about bindings, boots, the difference a pole makes, finished turns, parallel turns and dynamic skiing skills, or discover what to wear, what to expect on their first day of skiing and how to buy a ski that will last. There is even an après-ski survival guide. Snowboarders can find advice on choosing a board, bindings and footwear, tips on how to start doing tricks and survive big jumps and learn about the history of snowboarding.

The site has sections devoted to snow shoeing, snowmobiles and sledding, survival guides and features on the best resorts around the world. There are guides to living a mountain life, working on the slopes or becoming a ski instructor, and for the most advanced enthusiasts there is information on how to become the next Bode Miller or Glen Plake.

As with all sports, there is an element of risk involved, and OnSnow highlights the specific risks and looks at ways to prevent snow sports injuries. There are also movie reviews and even videos tutorials for cross-country skiers, with emphasis on balance, posture, basic flexibility, co-ordination and rhythm.
